Alcoholics need better treatment to succeed

Changes to current alcohol addiction treatments could be used to reduce rates of relapse, according to an expert psychologist.

Current treatments do not address the social and behavioural issues that addicts struggle with, such as how to socially interact and mix as a non-drinker.

These social and behavioural issues need to be addressed to ensure a greater chance of success through the rehabilitation programs available to alcoholics.
