Ancient super-predator had excellent vision

A pair of fossilised eyes belonging to a 500 million-year-old marine predator have been discovered on Kangaroo Island off the coast of South Australia.

The creature, Anomalocaris, was at the top of Earth’s first food chain. The stalked, compound eyes reveal _ Anomalocaris_ had acute vision, no doubt beneficial in maintaining its place as top predator.
