Asian ageing population looks to Australian system

The provision of retirement income and insurance infrastructure will be one of the challenges facing Asia in the coming years.

The current population estimate is for the median age acros Asia to rise from 30 now to 41 in 2050. Researchers believe that it is important for countries such as Korea and Japan to begin creating a sustainable pension system.

The findings appear in the second instalment of the “Asia in the Ageing Century” report from the Australian Research Council.
