Athletes struggling with perfectionism risk burnout

Young athletes with who feel pressured to please others are most vulnerable to burnout.

Researchers in the UK studied the relationship between different kinds of perfectionism and burnout among junior male footballers.

The results show players reporting perceived external pressure and a fear of making mistakes are at a significantly higher risk of burnout compared to non-perfectionists and those displaying perfectionism driven by their own personal standards.
