Description

The Melbourne Trade Workshop is co-hosted by the Departments of Economics, Monash Business School and the University of Melbourne. The workshop will feature local trade economists as well as the following two keynote speakers:

Andrei Levchenko

Andrei Levchenko is a Professor of Economics at the University of Michigan, a Research Associate at the National Bureau of Economic Research, a Research Fellow at the Centre for Economic Policy Research, and a member of the editorial boards of Journal of International Economics, Journal of Comparative Economics, and IMF Economic Review. Previously, he has held positions at the Federal Reserve Bank of New York and the International Monetary Fund.

He holds a Ph.D. in Economics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 2004 and a B.A. in Economics, Mathematics, and Italian from Indiana University in 1999. Andreis research lies at the interactions of globalisation, economic development, and macroeconomics. His research has been published in several top academic journals including American Economic Review, Econometrica, Journal of Political Economy, Quarterly Journal of Economics, and Review of Economic Studies.

Pascalis Raimondos

Pascalis Raimondos is a Professor of Economics at Queensland University of Technology, a Research Fellow at the Centre for Economic Policy Research, the CESIfo Group Munich, an External Fellow at the Centre for Globalization and Economic Policy at the University of Nottingham, and an Associate Editor of European Economic Review, Scandinavian Journal of Economics, Review of World Economics, and Journal of International Trade and Economic Development. Previously, he has held positions at the Copenhagen Business School and the University of Copenhagen.

He holds a Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Essex in 1991, a M.A. in Development Economics from the University of Essex in 1986 and a B.A. in Economics from the University of Athens in 1984. Pascalis research lies at the intersections of trade theory and policy, and public finance. His research has been published in several top academic journals including Economic Journal, Economic Theory, European Economic Review, Journal of International Economics, and Journal of Public Economics.
