Description

On behalf of Australasian Centre for Human Rights and Health and the UNSW Sydney School of Psychiatry, Gendered Violence Research Network and Australian Human Rights Institute we invite you to the second National Summit on dowry abuse.

Dowry abuse is a form of domestic violence and it can seriously harm women’s mental health and wellbeing.

The second National Summit continues the campaign to include dowry in the legal framework for domestic violence.

We invite you to discuss the nature of dowry abuse, discover commonalities and differences between communities, share and learn about the mental and physical harm on women and their lives, and explore alternative ways to conduct dowry without causing harm.

The Institute builds on the outstanding legacy of the Australian Human Rights Centre, which since its establishment in 1986, has increased public awareness and academic scholarship on human rights through research, public lectures and events, and publications.
