Back pain worse in unhappy workers

People with resigned attitudes to work are more likely to suffer from persistent lower back pain than those with positive attitudes.

The study found that there was no anatomical reason for the back pain but it had a severe effect on the patients' careers and social lives.

Recovery is more likely if a positive attitude is regained, which highlights the need for a supportive work environment.
