Bacteria uses investment strategies for survival

A mathematical model to predict how bacteria invest their resources, in a trade-off between growth and stress resistance, has been developed by researchers.

The study demonstrated how some bacteria invest their meagre supply of proteins for either growth or stress resistance, depending on their environmental conditions.

Each bacterium makes an investment decision, those who invest wisely survive, those who do not perish.

Researchers believe their findings will be relevant to researchers in economics, finance and business strategy.
