Nearly 80% of burn injuries happen in the home, according to new research.
Data for 2,480 burn cases in Australia and New Zealand showed 70% of burn cases were adults, and 67% were male, with the kitchen and the garden being the most common places for burns to occur.
Children were most likely to be burned while near an adult preparing hot food or drinks.
The study also revealed 18% of burn injuries were treated with ineffective techniques like ice, butter or toothpaste, rather than the most appropriate treatment, cool running water.

I've found holding a burn close to as high a heat as one can stand goes a long way in relieving the pain of a burn. I read it somewhere and it works like a charm.
