Cancer deaths down, but incidence rising

Early screening has contributed to a slight reduction in cancer-related deaths in Australia.

Examining annual data from a range of potentially terminal cancers, researchers found that mortality rates had dropped in almost all categories.

Cancer incidence rates, however, are on the increase, suggesting that advances in primary prevention are still trailing behind remedial treatment.
