DDT enters the womb

Researchers have found that the pesticide DDT, which is banned in Australia, harms unborn children.

The researchers surveyed the daughters of women who participated in a prospective study between 1959 and 1967. Those whose mothers had been exposed to DDT during pregnancy had a higher incidence of high blood pressure (hypertension).

DDT is still used in some parts of the world and also occurs naturally.
