Dolphins a bad influence on each other

Dolphins can pick up harmful behaviour like begging for food from humans from each other.

According to a Murdoch University study, dolphins are more likely to beg food from humans if they are associated with dolphins that already take food handouts.

Dolphins that learn to beg from humans are at greater risk of injury from fishing line and boat strikes. Such interactions between humans and wild dolphins are illegal and have been found to spread negative behaviour throughout dolphin populations.
