Early high-fat diet may boost breast cancer risk

A high-fat diet during puberty could speed up the development of breast cancer, according to researchers who have completed a mouse study.

A high-fat diet increases cell growth and alterations to immune cells and produces a distinct gene signature in the tumours consistent with breast cancer.

The findings indicate that avoiding a high-fat diet could help lower the risk of breast cancer.
