Women with a history of endometriosis are more likely to develop three different types of ovarian cancer.
More than 23,000 women were studied, grouping together around 13 different studies.
Of the 13,226 women without cancer, 6.2% had the painful condition. More than one in five (20.2%) of the 674 women with clear-cell ovarian cancer had a history of endometriosis.
Though the paper’s authors stressed that most women with endometriosis did not develop the disease, this research confirms previous findings that the condition is linked to higher rates of the cancer.
