Extreme becomes normal as climate changes

The oscillation between El Niño and La Niña weather patterns could become more extreme as the climate changes.

By comparing our current era with the Pliocene period, in which levels of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere were similar to today, researchers have suggested that these events will continue, and potentially get worse.
