A new computer modelling technology has been created to continually update and predict wildfire growth for lengthy fire blazes.
The technology will be updated with satellite weather to forecast the extent of the fire and changes in behaviour.
Scientists said they hope the program will allow for predictions to be made for large and intensive wildfires, even if they burn for weeks or months.
