Genetic breakthrough another step to understanding schizophrenia

Researchers have made a major breakthrough by locating specific genes associated with schizophrenia.

In an article published in the journal, Nature Genetics, 13 new risk loci - which is the location of a gene or DNA sequence on a chromosome - were identified.

The research provides deeper insight into the genetic architecture of schizophrenia, and provides a pathway to further research.
