Global cooling is just as bad as global warming

A “cold snap” 116 million years ago triggered similar problems for marine life as more recent crises caused by global warming, according to an international study published in Nature Geoscience.

The research, conducted by scientists from the UK and Germany, showed how the burial of large amounts of atmospheric carbon in the ocean led to a global temperature drop of up to 5 degrees Celsius and a reduction in the greenhouse effect.

This resulted in the deaths of large numbers of marine life.
