Goggles to help restore vision

New goggles that use cells similar to solar-panels may restore the vision of people afflicted with certain degenerative eye conditions.

The goggles, developed by researchers at the Stanford University School of Medicine, are fitted with a camera, pocket-PC, and liquid crystal micro-display to create a vision that is fired at near-infrared into an implanted cell beneath the retina.
