Green goop helps to prevent groundwater contamination

A green goop that occurs naturally in oxygen-poor water can help to control radioactive waste, University of Copenhagan researchers have found. The “green rust” reacts readily with Neptunium, a waste product from uranium reactors, reducing serious health risks that can result from a spill of the radioactive element.
