Hammerhead sharks most stressed by catch and release fishing

Shark species each respond differently to the stress of catch and release fishing.

A University of Miami study has found that hammerhead sharks are the most stressed by being caught on a fishing line.

The researchers studied five shark species in waters off Florida and the Bahamas, taking blood samples to study stress levels.

The results show that some sharks may experience adverse effects after being released into the water, and this could have serious conservation implications.
