Hey, hot body, ditch the drag

The drag acting on hot bodies moving through liquid can be reduced by up to 85%, potentially doubling their speed. The discovery exploits the drag-reducing properties of a vapour layer formed between hot bodies and surrounding liquid.

The finding could assist in the development of next-generation submarines and torpedoes.
