Irregular heartbeat can cause stroke

An irregular heartbeat accounts for one third of all strokes, according to new research from the University of Adelaide.

According to the researchers, irregular heartbeat can cause clots that move and block blood circulation in the brain, which results in stroke.

The rate of strokes in Australia is decreasing because of public awareness of the dangers of smoking and increased blood pressure management.
