Japanese scientists grow liver in petri dish

A group of scientists at the Yokohama City University have grown tiny, primitive livers from stem cells in a petri dish.

The livers are currently too small to be of any practical purpose, not to mention they lack the functionality of a proper liver.

Perhaps decades away from being used, it could help people with liver diseases or damage.
