Kindergarten vocabularly too elementary

Kindergarteners aren’t learning enough to ensure long-term reading comprehension.

Researchers from the US have found kindergartens do not teach enough words. They also found words that are taught weren’t challenging enough, and not enough focus is given to ensure students grasp the meaning of words.

The study also found poor and minority students had comparatively lower reading comprehension scores.
