Link between family history and drug addiction

Family history has a greater impact on drug addiction than initially thought, according to researchers from the University of Cambridge.

By comparing the brains of drug-dependent and non-drug-dependent sibling’s, the scientists found they shared a brain abnormality in the frontal lobe that controls behaviour.

The findings suggest there are biological influences on drug addiction, in addition to the environmental cues.
