Looking for planets just like Earth

University of Auckland scientists have proposed a new way to find planets like Earth.

The research strategy includes the use of the NASA Kepler space telescope and graviational microlensing technology at New Zealand’s Mt John Observatory.

Scientists think there are close to 17 billion planets a similar size to Earth in the Milky Way.

Further study will reveal how many of these have moderate temperatures and are habitable.
