Melanin considered for bio-friendly electronics

Melanin the pigment that colours our skin and eyes could soon be used for a new generation of biologically friendly electronic devices.

A new study has found that melanin could be used in applications such as medical sensors and tissue stimulation treatments.

Due to its electrical properties, melanin is an organic semiconductor which is environmentally friendly and cheaper than inorganic semiconductors.
