Methane emissions found to be underestimated

The USA’s methane emissions, a type of greenhouse gas, have been found to be severely underestimated according to new research.

A study released by the Proceedings of the National Academy of Science counters previous research which showed gas emissions in the oil and gas sectors to be lower than previously estimated.

In Australia, the CSIRO and Department of Environment are in the process of reviewing how natural gas emissions are measured, estimated and reported.
