The change to a structure of a protein molecule may be linked to the onset of Alzheimer’s disease, researchers at the University of Cambridge have found.

Their study found that the chain reaction this causes leads to the death of neurons in the brain.

The researchers believe that this could be a vital breakthrough in the early diagnosis of both Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s disease.
