Investing in carbon sequestration in soil has been difficult because there is no accurate way to measure how well the carbon is captured.
Researchers have now developed an instrument which can determine soil carbon levels more throughly than existing soil measurements.
The breakthrough could provide a major boost to the participation of the agriculture sector in a carbon economy.
The soil carbon bench determines carbon levels from much larger samples, with greater accuracy and lower cost, than any existing technology.
