Obesity in kids linked to lower maths scores

The social and emotional effects of obesity may lead to lower maths performance scores for some children.

Children whose obesity persisted from the start of kinder through to grade five performed worse on maths tests compared with children who were never obese.

The findings illustrate the complex relationships between children’s weight, social and emotional well-being, academic ability, and time.
