Parenting practices put breastfed babies ahead

Breastfed babies are more intelligent but not because of breastfeeding alone but because of additional parenting skills.

Children who were breastfed for six months or more performed the best on reading assessments because they experienced the most optimal parenting practices.

The study found that parenting strategies, such as reading to your child, makes the most difference in terms of readiness for school.

The study relied on 7,500 mothers and their children from birth to five years of age.
