Pensioners happier than middle aged

People are by average happiest at their retirement age and most miserable in their geriatric years.

Tony Beatton and Paul Frijters of the University of Queensland have conducted a new study that investigates how happiness levels change throughout a lifetime.

The pair have collected and analysed data from more that 60,000 people in Australia, Britain and Germany.

Their study also finds that older generations living in Australia are happier than those in UK, and that happiness peaks at the age of 18 in Germany.
