Instagram photos with human faces are 38% more likely to receive “likes” than photos without faces, a new study shows.
Researchers used facial recognition software on more than 1.1 million images on the social networking and found that although faces are more popular, the number of faces in the photo or the age and gender of the subjects didn’t matter.
Users who posted more frequently also attracted less approval on the network.
Researcher Saeideh Bakhshi said humans constantly monitor faces for a variety of contexts, including attractiveness, emotions and identity.
