Portable purification filter could provide safe drinking water

Water purification membranes have been enhanced by plasma treated carbon nanotubes which could supply clean drinking water to the 780 million people who don’t have access to safe drinking water.

A team of international scientists, including two from the CSIRO plasma nano science laboratory, treated filtration membranes with the plasma nanotubes which will remove any contaminants in the water.

The membrane can be placed in small, portable water purification devices that would be rechargeable, inexpensive and more effective than existing filtration methods.
