Adam Hulme

Dr Adam Hulme is a Research Fellow at the Centre for Human Factors and Sociotechnical Systems at the University of the Sunshine Coast. He has a background in Sports and Exercise Science (BSc, HONS) and Public Health (MA), and obtained a PhD in Sports Injury Epidemiology and Systems Ergonomics in August 2017. His doctoral program was completed at the Australian Centre for Research into Injury in Sport and its Prevention (Federation University Australia), which is recognised by the International Olympic Committee as a world leading research centre. His main areas of expertise and interest include the application of methods and approaches that are grounded in systems theory to enhance the health and safety of athletes in complex sociotechnical sports systems. Whilst he has a strong connection to sports research both past and present, Adam’s current position involves the development of a new theory and method to support risk assessment and accident analysis in a diverse range of safety-critical work systems. These systems include nuclear power, maritime, transportation (e.g., road, rail, aviation, maritime), the manufacturing industry, engineering, healthcare, sport, and urban systems.
