Alan Richards

My career has encapsulated a multitude of roles, from electrical engineering, business improvement and long-term strategy, to lecturing in management information systems and organisational behaviour.
My passion is for innovative learning and teaching that meld business imperatives with academic endeavour to maximise student experience through practical application.

I have created large scale strategic plans for both UK and international companies concerned with water and sewage provision. In addition, I have extensive experience in the use of knowledge and information management within large organisations to maximise competitive advantage.

I completed an MBA in IT during my time in industry and attained a PhD after entering academe. My doctoral research was concerned with strategic allocation of resources during humanitarian crises.

My current role is to provide a platform for innovation within higher education; in particular, to do with alternative learning and teaching methods that concentrate on 'flipping the classroom'.
