Associate Professor of Geography, Flinders University

Alaric Maude is a retired Associate Professor of Geography from Flinders University, Adelaide. He was the Lead Writer and Writing Coach for the Australian geography curriculum, and has published a number of articles and book chapters on geographical education. He has also written a book for primary school teachers on how to understand and teach the Australian geography curriculum from Foundation to Year 6. He was Secretary of the Institute of Australian Geographers from 2004 to 2012, and Chair of the National Committee for Geographical Sciences of the Academy of Science from 2013 to 2017.

Honours

Appointed a Member of the Order of Australia in June 2017 for significant services to education in the field of geography. Awarded the Griffith Taylor Medal by the Institute of Australian Geographers in 2019.
