After obtaining a BSc in Archaeology at the University of Leicester and a MA in Contemporary History at the University of Valencia (Spain), Alberto joined the Centre for Research on Cuba (University of Nottingham) in 2012, where he finished a PhD on modern counter-insurgencies, mass confinement and the use of reconcentration camps in nineteenth-century Cuba (and beyond). He now holds an Honorary Post-doctoral Research Fellowship at the School of Cultures, Languages and Area Studies (University of Nottingham).
