Alex joined the UTS Institute for Sustainable Futures in February 2016. His area of focus is the regulatory and technological innovations required to make the transition to a low carbon emission energy market.

Before joining ISF, Alex worked for four years at the Australian Energy Market Commission. There he developed an in-depth understanding of the regulatory structure and technical operations of the National Electricity Market. He worked on and led a number of reviews of changes to the electricity rules. These reviews related to metering, transmission planning, and the wholesale and retail markets. He also led a number of reviews into features of the gas market.

Previously, Alex spent three years internationally as an engineer for a company that built turnkey solar manufacturing plants. In this role Alex worked with clients in multiple international sites including in China and Europe to provide the best solutions to their needs.
