Alfredo R. Paloyo

Senior Lecturer in Economics, University of Wollongong

Dr Alfredo Paloyo is a Senior Lecturer in the School of Accounting, Economics, and Finance as well a Member of the Centre for Human and Social Capital Research

Alfredo received his B.S. (2002), cum laude, and M.A. (2005) in Economics from the University of the Philippines School of Economics. He then obtained a European Master in Law and Economics (LL.M., 2007) with the highest distinction, jointly awarded by the Erasmus University of Rotterdam (Netherlands), the University of Hamburg (Germany), and the University of Bologna (Italy). He earned his Dr. rer. oec. (Ph.D., 2011), summa cum laude, from the Ruhr University of Bochum within the framework of the Ruhr Graduate School in Economics in Germany.

Alfredo joined the University of Wollongong in July 2013 after being a Researcher in the Division of Labor Markets, Education, Population of the Rheinisch-Westfälisches Institut für Wirtschaftsforschung (RWI) in Essen, Germany.

Alfredo's research interest is in the microeconometric evaluation of treatment effects, particularly as it applies to human capital, development, and defense.

At the RWI, Alfredo undertook projects for the Federal Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs of Germany (BMAS) and the Initiative for a New Social Market Economy (INSM). He has given courses at the Ruhr University of Bochum in Germany and De La Salle University in Manila, Philippines.
