Visiting Associate Professor, National Taiwan Normal University

Alistair Noble is a pianist, composer, and musicologist. He was previously a lecturer in music and Associate Dean of the College of Arts and Social Sciences at The Australian National University and more recently has been teaching composition, pop music analysis, and music-related sociology in the Department of Music and the Graduate Institute of Ethnomusicology at the National Taiwan Normal University in Taipei.
Noble has broad research interests in the field of music and cultural analysis, with a special focus on the period of the later 20th and 21st centuries. His work combines very close reading of musical works with contextual studies.
