Senior Lecturer, School of Early Childhood and Inclusive Education, Queensland University of Technology

Dr Amanda Mergler is a Senior lecturer in the School of Early Childhood and Inclusive Education at QUT, and the co-founder of Girls Uniform Agenda (GUA). GUA advocates for the rights of girls to have the option of wearing shorts and pants to school as part of their everyday school uniform. As a registered psychologist, Amanda teaches undergraduate and postgraduate students in human development, educational psychology, and behavior management. Amanda has been involved in research projects examining the values of teachers, pre-service teachers and school chaplains. Key interest areas for Amanda are positive psychology, positive education and the role of ‘personal responsibility’ in the lives of young people, and her recent research in this area builds on her previous work in which she created an education program and survey to assess and enhance this construct in adolescents.
