Professor of Film and Visual Culture, University of Aberdeen

I am Professor of Film and Visual Culture at the University of Aberdeen, where I teach courses on modern and contemporary art.

My area of specialization is contemporary art from Eastern Europe and Russia from the second half of the 20th century. While my research had been focused previously on performance artists in Russia, Latvia and Poland from the late communist and early post-communist periods (roughly 1980 to the present), my current research expands its scope to examine performance art across Central and Eastern Europe, from the Baltics to the Balkans.
