Professor of Infection Medicine, Lund University

Our laboratory are focused on understanding host-pathogen interactions, with emphasis on respiratory pathogens, and to use this knowledge to develop novel preventive and therapeutic strategies to protect against bacterial infection in this era go antibiotic-resistance. Our work focuses on both the factors used by bacteria to establish biofilm colonization and cause disease, how factors in the nasopharyngeal environment, such as the microflora and viral infection affects progression to disease, and how this is counteracted by the host inflammatory response to colonization and infection.
