Professor of Economics, New York University

Andrew Caplin was born in London in 1956. He attended William Ellis School and studied economics at Cambridge. He got his Ph.D at Yale, then taught at Harvard, Princeton, and Columbia before settling in at NYU, where he is Silver Professor of economics.

In addition to the economics of housing, he conducts research in microeconomics, macroeconomics, experimental economics, psychology and economics, "neuroeconomics", and "genoeconomics." As this suggests, he tends to disregard disciplinary boundaries and field labels.
