Associate Professor of Mathematics, College of the Holy Cross

Andrew D. Hwang earned his PhD in 1993, in differential geometry, the use of calculus to study curvature of space. Avocationally, he is interested in complex systems and emergent behavior from culture to consciousness, and in conveying the beauty and power of mathematical thought to non-mathematicians.

Since 2007, he has written Free Software for creating high-quality mathematical diagrams and digitized dozens of public-domain mathematics, physics, and astronomy books for Project Gutenberg.

"Hwang" rhymes with "song".
