I am an associate professor in the Mexican American Studies Dept at the University of Arizona. I've been working on immigration issues since about 2006. In 2007 I received a Fulbright Award in order to research the interaction between migrant women and immigration enforcement authorities. Over the course of about 8 months, I interviewed 129 women at a migrant shelter right across the border from Nogales, Arizona, soon after they had been detained and repatriated.
