Annalise Weckesser

Reader in Medical Anthropology, Birmingham City University

Dr Annalise Weckesser is a medical anthropologist, based at Birmingham City University's Faculty of Health, Education and Life Sciences, researching gendered experiences of reproductive health, sexual health and chronic illness (including endometriosis). She is co-founder and lead coordinator of SEEN- Social SciencEs Endometriosis Network. Recently, Weckesser led a project for Plan International UK’s and Brook’s 'Let’s Talk. Period' initiative, creating a series of evidence-based resources for the menstruation education, health, policy, and advocacy sector (available from: https://plan-uk.org/act-for-girls/lets-talk-period). She's published in a variety of peer-reviewed journals including British Journal of Obstetrics & Gynecology, Journal of Paediatric Adolescent Gynecology, Sex Education and Social Science of Medicine.
